Why create custom datasets?
Creating custom datasets enables you to combine data from separate datasets into one dataset. For example, your project has three separate datasets, Dataset A, B and C. Dataset A and B are both from the same location and Dataset C is from a second location. You can combine A and B into a custom dataset and compare it against Dataset C.
The custom dataset will be treated as one in the Community Visualization tools and the Export Taxonomic Counts tool. If the datasets are different sizes, selecting Normalized data will show the communities in the correct proportions based on the percentage composition.
How to create custom datasets
Select Customize Datasets from the menu. You will see all the projects and datasets available to you.
Select the datasets you want to combine. You can select datasets from different projects or within the same project.
Name your custom dataset and give it a description. Once you save the custom dataset, it will be visible in the panel on the right.
